Snake Plate With Text

Snake plate with writing “Abuse of power comes as no suprprise” (Jenny Holzer, Truisms, 1983). Size ~18 cm. Blue dots in glaze are a happy accident.

My drawings of snakes are so simplified, that they can refer to any type of snake. However this collection is inspired by and dedicated to Palestine Viper (Daboia palaestinae). This species endemic to Levant region symbolises the land and its enduring identity. Palestine Viper (Daboia palaestinae) was declared Israel's national snake in 2018.
